What is Mental Health First Aid (MHFA)?
MHFA is a FREE 8-hour training to give individuals knowledge and tools to recognize mental health issues and provide support. Participants will gain a basic understanding of mental illnesses and addictions and the impact they have on individuals' lives. Through modeling, group discussions, personal reflection, partner activities, and role-playing, participants will also learn the five-step MHFA Action Plan (ALGEE) to deal with mental health crises.
Who should attend?
Anyone (over the age of 16) interested in learning skills to respond to the early signs of mental health crises. This training is intended for individuals in the general public including students, professionals, and community members.
Who teaches the course?
The training is led by April Roberson and Lesley White. Both are Certified Mental Health First Aid Instructors through the National Council for Community Behavioral Healthcare.

This would be an excellent opportunity for you to participate in helping Morris Brown College clean up its campus, and also allow students to complete their community service hours. You will receive a certificate of Completion for community service hours upon completion.
WHEN: The initial dates of the project is set for the first Saturday in Saturday in May. May 3, 2014; Time 8:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m.
PARKING: You can park in the parking lot behind the school's Clock Towers.
SUPPLIES: Supplies that will be needed for the yard work: rakes, brooms, work gloves, blowers, lawn mowers, hedge cutters and leaf bags.
